Realme 12 Pro+ Tipped to Run on Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 Chipset

Realme 12 Pro series comprising the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+ is anticipated to go official in India soon. Ahead of an official announcement, a tipster has suggested the chipset of the Realme 12 Pro+ model. The upcoming handset is said to run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. The Realme 12 Pro+ could succeed the Realme 11 Pro+ that went official in the country in July. It is speculated to come with a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

Tipster Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24) on X claimed that the Realme 12 Pro+ will ship with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. The upcoming Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, which is expected to compete with the likes of Realme 12 Pro+, is also confirmed to run on the same chipset.

While Realme hasn't announced a launch date or even confirmed the launch of the Realme 12 Pro series in India, it did announce its new brand slogan on January 3. The company changed its slogan from 'Dare to Leap' to 'Make it Real'.

As per past leaks, the Realme 12 Pro+ could come with a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The handset may debut in the mid-range smartphone segment priced around CNY 2,000 (roughly Rs. 23,000). It is rumoured to be the first handset in the mid-range segment to feature a periscope lens.

The specifications for the Realme 12 Pro+ could be an upgrade over last year's Realme 11 Pro+. The latter was launched in June with an initial price tag of Rs. 27,999. It runs on Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0 custom skin and features a 6.7-inch full-HD+ display. The phone boasts a 200-megapixel triple rear camera setup and runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC. A 32-megapixel selfie camera and, a 5,000mAh battery with 100W SuperVOOC fast charging support are the other key specifications of the device.

The Motorola Edge 40 recently made its debut in the country as the successor to the Edge 30 that was launched last year. Should you buy this phone instead of the Nothing Phone 1 or the Realme Pro+? OnePlus Buds 3 Price, Key Specifications Tipped Ahead of January 4 Launch

OnePlus Buds 3 TWS earphones are confirmed to launch in China on January 4, alongside the OnePlus Ace 3 smartphone. The company has already revealed the design and colour options of the upcoming true wireless earphones. Even though they dropped the 'Pro' moniker this year, they are expected to succeed the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, which were unveiled in January 2023. Ahead of the launch, a new report online has suggested the price point of the OnePlus Buds 3 and has listed a few key specifications of the earphones.

A report by Allround-PC claims that the OnePlus Buds 3 are likely to be priced at EUR 99 (roughly Rs. 9,000). The company has already confirmed that the earphones will be offered in Clear Sea Blue and Space Grey (translated from Chinese) colour options.

The OnePlus Buds 3 are expected to be equipped with a 10.4mm driver and a 6mm tweeter, according to the report. The earphones are said to offer 48dB Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) support and offer Google Fast Pair and dual connectivity. These true wireless earphones may also arrive with an IP55 rating for dust and splash resistance, which should make them suitable for wear during sporting activities and in the rain.

Meanwhile, tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) claimed in a Weibo post that the OnePlus Buds 3 may offer a 3D surround sound experience and support LHDC 5.0. These earphones are also likely to offer a total battery life of up to 44 hours. They have previously been tipped to offer up to 33 hours of playback time along with the case.

An earlier leak also suggested that the OnePlus Buds 3 are expected to pack a 58mAh battery in each earbud and a 520mAh battery in the storage case with 4.5W input and 1.2W output support. The earphones have also been tipped to support Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.

They will debut in China on January 4 but their global launch has not yet been confirmed. These TWS earphones may come to the global markets, including India and Europe, later in the month, possibly alongside the OnePlus 12R on January 23.

The Chinese OEM stated that several Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco products including smartphones and tablets will receive the HyperOS update globally. Xiaomi India CMO Anuj Sharma shared a teaser on X (formerly Twitter) revealing that HyperOS will come to India soon. The post is accompanied by an image with the words "Coming to India" alongside the HyperOS logo. In the caption, Sharma wrote that 2024 will be a big year for Xiaomi India with "tons of action."

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi HyperOS India (@XiaomiHyperOSIN) page on X confirmed that the new operating system will start rolling out in India this month. The first devices to get the HyperOS update in the country will be the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 6, both of which ship with Android 13-based MIUI 14.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Pre-Order Details Leak Out; Galaxy S24+ Spotted on Walmart Listing

Samsung Galaxy S24 series is expected to be unveiled on January 17 and past rumours have already given us a fair idea of what to expect from the new flagship phones. The most recent leaks suggest video recording upgrades on the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra along with some pre-order perks. The regular models are also tipped to be priced lower than their predecessors. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, in contrast, could see a price jump across all three storage variants. Meanwhile, Walmart accidentally listed the Galaxy S24+ on its online website, whereas Samsung retailers in Brazil have also started teasing the phone ahead of the debut.

On X (formerly Twitter), Tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) posted that Samsung's flagship Galaxy S24 phones will be priced slightly lower than expected. He claimed that Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ stock is large this time as the company is optimistic about the upcoming phones. Further, the Galaxy S24 series is said to offer the ability to view HDR photos.

In a separate post, he hinted that the the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be able to record footage at 4K 120 frames per second (fps). The current Galaxy S23 Ultra supports 8K and 4K video recording. However, the 8K videos are capped at 30fps and the 4K videos are capped at 60fps.

Additionally, a post by the South Korean blog Naver says Samsung will provide pre-order bonuses for early buyers of Galaxy S24 Ultra. Like previous times, early adopters could receive higher storage variants of the phone at no extra cost. Additional pre-order bonuses are said to include discount coupons for the Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Buds FE.

Meanwhile, Walmart has accidentally listed the Samsung Galaxy S24+ ahead of the rumoured January 17 debut. The listing shows the handset in an onyx black shade with 12GB of RAM. The screenshot of the e-commerce listing shared by PhoneArena reveals AI-powered features of the handset — Live Translate, Generative Edit, and Nightography Zoom.

The Walmart listing suggests a 6.7-inch display for the Galaxy S24+. This is an upgrade over the 6.6-inch screen on the Galaxy S23+. It is seen with a 4,900mAh battery.

Furthermore, tipster CID (@theonecid) on X claimed that Samsung retailers in Brazil had started posting promotional posters of the Galaxy S24 Ultra ahead of the announcement. A leaked poster shows a quad rear camera unit and a colour-matched S Pen.

The rumoured launch date of Galaxy S24 lineup is two weeks away, so we can expect to hear more about the flagships in the coming days. In the meantime, you can check our coverage here.

Steam’s Best of 2023 Reveals Its Highest-Selling and Most-Played Games of the Past Year

Valve has unveiled its annual ‘Best of 2023' list on Steam, revealing which titles dominated sales on PC. The titles haven't been numerically ranked, but have been grouped into tiers — Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze — based on data collected from January 1 through December 15, 2023. The Top 12 category is populated by both free-to-play multiplayer games and the biggest launches, with the award-winning Baldur's Gate 3, Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077, and Hogwarts Legacy emerging as the best-selling titles. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which was disliked by both fans and critics alike, also made it to higher echelons, thanks to a dedicated fanbase wanting to experience its multiplayer segment.

The usual suspects like Counter-Strike 2, PUBG: Battlegrounds, Apex Legends, Dota 2, and Destiny 2 also made it to the Platinum rank — the last of them is getting a new expansion, ‘The Final Shape,' in June, this year. Meanwhile, the Gold tier contains some absolute bangers like the Resident Evil 4 remake, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Elden Ring, for which the last-reported sales number was 20 million copies across all platforms. Its popularity was highly instrumental in plunking Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, a lesser-known FromSoftware franchise, among the top 24 best-selling games on the platform. Even FIFA 23 from last year made the cut, which shouldn't be surprising considering its follow-up EA Sports FC 24 launched mid-year.

In addition to an overall Top-Sellers field, Steam has additional sections for New Releases by gross revenue, Most Played, Early Access purchases, and more. Multiplatform games that were received poorly seem to be the centre of attention among the latest releases, with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Payday 3 emerging on top, with the latter being criticised for lack of content. As you'd expect, multiplayer games held the highest player count (above 300,000 minimum), though some single-player affairs like Goose Goose Duck and Hogwarts Legacy charted alongside Baldur's Gate 3, which at one point, peaked at over 800,000 concurrent players on Steam. Developer Larian Studios only anticipated 100,000, given the game had been out for nearly three years in early access. At the time of writing, over 176,000 concurrent players are logged into the expansive RPG, which is placed fourth among the most-played games on the platform.

2023 was also a great year for studios to test out their games in early access and gain feedback on them. The ocean exploration and fishing game from Mintrocket, Dave the Diver, was among the favourites, even turning out to be one of the most played games on the Steam Deck. While it's only natural to expect less graphically intensive games like Vampire Survivor and Half-Life on there, somehow Starfield made it to the top despite its lack of optimisation causing heavy stutters in crowded areas like New Atlantis and the Wild West-themed Akila. Beat Saber and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR emerged among the favourites in virtual reality gaming, along with Half-Life: Alyx, pitting you in a vicious fight against the alien Combines.

Currently, Steam also has its annual Winter Sale going on, bringing steep discounts on new and returning games. It runs until January 5 at 10:30pm IST.

What are the most exciting titles that gamers can look forward to in 2023? We discuss some of our favourites on the latest episode of Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast.
