Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Early Renders Showcase Wider Displays and Slimmer Design

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are only a couple of months old, but speculations about their successors are already emerging on the Web. Most recently, early renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 based on one of Samsung's newest patents have leaked online. The renders suggest major design improvements for the book-style foldable device. The handset appears to have a slimmer design with a larger external display. Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Z Fold 6 alongside Galaxy Z Flip 6 in the second half of this year.

Tipster David Kowalski (@xleaks7), in collaboration with Pigto, shared supposed renders of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. The renders, based on Samsung's recent patent filing, suggest bigger inner and outer displays for the upcoming foldable offering more room for users to perform daily tasks. The smartphone could also offer a slimmer and wider design than the current iteration.

Samsung is expected to introduce a novel hinge module for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6. It is said to sport a different aspect ratio as well.

While not much is known about the Galaxy Z Fold 6 at this point, early leaks about the Galaxy Z Flip 6 suggest that Samsung is testing a larger screen for the next-generation flip. It is expected to get a 3.9-inch cover panel, instead of Galaxy Z Flip 5's 3.4-inch cover screen. The Galaxy AI features that debuted on the Galaxy S24 series are also expected to land on the new foldables as well.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to go official in either July or August. With just around six months to go for the potential launch, we can expect more new rumours and leaks about the devices to pop up online in the coming weeks.

HMD Global Drops Nokia Branding From Official Website, X Account; Company Says HMD Devices Coming Soon

HMD Global, which has been making Nokia-branded smartphones for the past seven years, will sell its own line of HMD-branded devices soon. The latest move by the Finnish company is expected to mark an end to Nokia branded smartphones. HMD is currently teasing its upcoming product portfolio offering a few clues on what you can next expect from HMD phones. One notable change is the change in the X service user ID and website address. The first HMD-branded smartphone is expected to debut during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 event in Barcelona.

Nokia.com/phones website now redirects to HMD.com. Its X ID has now shifted to @HMDglobal instead of @nokiamobile signifying the company's transition. HMD's official website states that the company is establishing an original HMD brand alongside bringing phones from all-new partnerships.  "We're still makers of Nokia smartphones and Nokia dumbphones, but we're getting warmed up to bring you even more, including original HMD devices, and phones from all-new partnerships" the website reads. The portfolio will include smartphones, tablets, and feature phones.

In a teaser video shared on the company website, HMD Global highlights the currently emphasised Human Mobile Devices name behind its abbreviation. It states that HMD is the "manufacturer of Nokia phones".

HMD Global was established in 2016 after Microsoft sold its rights to the Nokia brand for ten years. The Nokia 6 was launched as the first handset by HMD Global back in 2017.

Details about the name of the first HMD smartphone and its launch date are unknown at this moment. As per past leaks, the handset is said to be codenamed N159V and includes a dual rear camera unit, led by a 108-megapixel primary rear sensor with support for optical image stabilisation (OIS). It is expected to come in black and cyan colour options with plastic frames. It is anticipated to be launched at the MWC event in Barcelona scheduled to take place in February last week. The HMD brand is expected to co-exist alongside its Nokia phones.

Reliance Jio Urges Government to Frame Policy to Shut Down 2G and 3G Services

Reliance Jio, in response to a consulting paper published by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), titled Digital Transformation through 5G Ecosystem, suggested that the government should frame a policy to shut down the 2G and 3G networks in India and move the existing users to 4G and 5G networks. In a separate response, Vodafone Idea (Vi) also made the same suggestion and highlighted that the existence of such barriers lead to a digital divide and impacts the ecosystem for 5G use cases.

The regulatory body sought opinions on the barriers to the development of the ecosystem for 5G use cases, which need to be addressed and the possible policy and regulatory interventions that can overcome them. Responding to this, Reliance Jio stated, “The Government should come out with a policy and glidepath for closing down the 2G and 3G networks completely so that unnecessary network costs should be avoided, and all customers can be migrated to 4G and 5G services.” The telecom operator added that this will also boost the developing ecosystem to 5G use cases.

Separately, Vodafone Idea also submitted its suggestion highlighting a similar measure. “The inability of users to switch to smartphones on account of the cost of these devices also leads to the users continuing on older technology and hence, not using digital services and most likely ending up being not updated on latest digital technologies and services,” it added.

The two major issues with shifting users to a higher network bandwidth include the abundance of phones used in India that are only 2G/3G capable, and the pricing of the 4G and 5G enabled smartphones that might be unaffordable for the rural and remote population of the country. Vodafone Idea highlighted the issue as well and stated that the cost of smartphones for low-income groups is a very big challenge.

Reliance Jio also underlined the necessity for the availability and allocation of a “massive amount” of spectrum bands to better implement a robust 5G connectivity. To solve this, the telecom operator urged that the 6GHz band, full C-Band, and 28GHz (on a flexible use basis) should also be auctioned, along with the planned auction of the E-Band and V-Band spectrum.

It should be noted that these are just the suggestions given to TRAI by Telecom Service Providers and other enablers of the ecosystem. The suggestion does not ensure that the government will take active steps to shut down the 2G and 3G networks. In case, the Centre does move ahead with the proposed suggestion, citizens will get an ample amount of time and assistance from the government to make the transition easy.

Ola Electric Founder's AI Startup Krutrim Becomes India's First AI Unicorn

Krutrim, the AI startup founded by serial entrepreneur Bhavish Aggarwal, has gained unicorn status after securing $50 million in funding from investors including Matrix Partners India. It becomes the first Indian AI startup to gain a billion-dollar valuation, a mere month after debuting a large language model, the firm said in a blog post. Krutrim, which translates to “artificial” in Sanskrit, is also developing data centers and will ultimately aim to create servers and super computers for the AI ecosystem.

A clutch of Indian startups and academic groups are racing to build large language models in Indian languages, so called Indic LLMs, after the launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT more than a year ago. Countries are hoping to create their own competing AI systems, rather than relying on technology from the US or China. In Europe, investors are pouring cash into France's Mistral AI, valued at $2 billion after being founded last year. The United Arab Emirates touts its Falcon model, which is backed by an Abu Dhabi government research institute.

India, with 1.4 billion people, is focusing on building smaller, more cost efficient AI systems. Generative AI startup Sarvam, which built its system using available open-source models, launched OpenHathi, its first open-source Hindi LLM last month. The announcement came days after it had raised $41 million in an investment from Lightspeed Venture Partners, billionaire Vinod Khosla and others.

“India has to build its own AI,” Aggarwal, the founder of Indian ride-hailing startup Ola, said in the statement. “We are fully committed towards building the country's first complete AI computing stack.”

Realme 12, Realme 12+ Listing Surfaces on BIS Website; Realme 12+ Design Revealed via MIIT Certification

Realme 12 5G and Realme 12+ 5G are said to be in the works and details of the new handsets have surfaced online, shortly before the company launches the Realme 12 Pro series in India. Two new Realme 12 series handsets have been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website, which suggests they could make their debut in the near future. The Realme 12+ 5G has also been listed on China's MIIT certification website, along with images of the purported handset.

Both the Realme 12 5G and Realme 12+ 5G are now listed on the BIS website with the model numbers RMX3868 and RMX38667, respectively. The listings that were published on January 24, do not reveal any of the handsets' specifications. The appearance of the listings suggest that both the Realme 12 models will be launched in India soon — readers might recall that the Realme 12 Pro models that will debut in India on January 29 were spotted on the BIS website in mid-December.

Meanwhile, the Realme 12+ 5G has also been spotted on the MIIT certification website with a slightly different model number — RMX38666. The listing on the Chinese regulatory authority's website also includes five images of the phone in a blue colourway that give us our first look at its design.

The rear panel of the purported Realme 12+ 5G on the MIIT website shows the handset will bear a similar appearance to the Realme 12 Pro+ 5G. The handset is seen with a quad rear camera setup, along with an LED flash. It also has a long metal strip that runs from the top to the bottom of the phone, in the middle. The Realme branding is located at the bottom left section of the rear panel.

The other images show the front of the handset and its left and right edges. While details of the selfie camera cutout are not discernible, the volume buttons are shown on the right edge, along with the power button. The phone's edges appear to be flat, while the images suggest the corners will be rounded.

Realme is yet to announce any plans to launch the purported Realme 12 5G and Realme 12+ 5G in India and other markets, but we can expect the phones to make their debut soon. Meanwhile, the company is set to launch the Realme 12 Pro series of smartphones in India on January 29.

Apple's Plan to Comply With EU's DMA Regulation 'Farce', Spotify Says

Spotify said on Friday that Apple's new plan to comply with the European Union's Digital Markets Act (DMA) is "a complete and total farce."

From early March, developers will be able to offer alternative app stores on iPhone and opt out of using Apple's in-app payment system, which charges commissions of up to 30 percent, under the bloc's new rules.

However, developers will still be required to pay a "core technology fee" of EUR 50 (roughly Rs. 4,500) per user account per year under Apple's new EU regime.

"From the beginning, Apple has been clear that they didn't like the idea of abiding by the DMA. So they've formulated an undesirable alternative to the status quo," the music streaming-giant said on Friday.

Spotify said it would have to pay a 17 percent commission if it stays in the App Store and offers its own in-app payment under the new terms.

"Every developer can choose to stay on the same terms in place today. And under the new terms, more than 99 percent of developers would pay the same or less to Apple," Apple said in an emailed statement to Reuters.

Apple faces strong action if changes to its App Store do not meet incoming regulations, the bloc's industry chief exclusively told Reuters on Friday.

Moto G34 Review: Affordable 5G

Moto G34 5G launched in India on January 9 as an affordable 5G smartphone and is now available for purchase as well. The Moto G lineup has been around for more than a decade now. I still remember the very first Moto G launched in 2013 with stock Android, some Moto exclusive features, a single 5-megapixel rear camera, and thick bezels. 10 years later, there are a lot of changes with the G lineup, but Motorola has managed to keep the pricing affordable. The new Moto G34 5G costs less than the launch price of the original Moto G. And instead of a 5-megapixel camera, you now get 50-megapixels.

I've been using the newly launched Moto G34 5G for over a week now, and here's my take on the latest G phone!

Moto G34 5G price in India

Before I start on the Moto G34 5G, I'd like to mention its pricing in India. The base variant, which gets 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, is priced at Rs. 10,999. We're reviewing the 8GB + 128GB variant, which is priced at Rs. 11,999. The original Moto G was launched at Rs. 12,499 in 2013 and had 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. Its predecessor, the Moto G32, was priced at Rs. 11,999 for the base model. What I'm trying to say is that the Moto G34 is an affordable 5G smartphone.

The phone is available in Charcoal Black, Ice Blue, and Ocean Green colour options. The Ocean Green variant has a vegan leather finish rear panel, and that's what we're reviewing.Moto g34 5g review box moto-g34-review-box

In the box, the Moto G34 5G is accompanied by a SIM ejector tool, some paperwork, a USB Type-C cable, and a 20W TurboPower charger.

Moto G34 Review: Design

The Vegan leather finish of our review unit gives the Moto G34 5G a nice premium feel. It's a nice change from the usual glass or plastic rear panel that we're all used to. The rear panel has the famous Moto logo in the centre. The Vegan leather finish is soft and leaves no fingerprints or smudges, which is nice. It has flat panels with rounded corners and a slight taper where the rear panel meets the frame. The phone is also decently slim at just 8mm and weighs 180 grams.

Motorola has been using a similar camera bump on its recent G series phones, with the module placed in the top left corner, and I think it looks good. There's barely a camera bump, to be honest, but whatever is there, it's done nicely. It's got a different finish compared to the panel and adds a nice contrast. There's not too much branding going on either, which is nice. I'm not a fan of manufacturers writing the phone's entire history on the back panel.Moto g34 5g review design moto-g34-review-design

Overall, the Moto G34 5G has got a nice in-hand feel.

Since there's no glass or metal here, the Moto G34 5G is light, but not in a bad way. The display bezels are slim on the sides, but the top and bottom are thicker and not uniform. The phone has a flat panel with no tapered edges, but it doesn't dig into your skin. Motorola has given the phone an IP52 rating, which means basic splash resistance.

Moto G34 Review: Specifications and software

Alright, now let's talk about specifications. Motorola has used the tried and tested Snapdragon 695 chip on the Moto G34 5G. The chipset is paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, which is expandable. The phone has a hybrid SIM tray that can accommodate either two nano SIM cards or a nano SIM card, and a microSD card. For connectivity, there's a USB Type-C port at the bottom, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.1, 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, and support for all the GPS standards. The phone supports 13 5G bands.

The Moto G34 5G comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner placed underneath the Power button. I'm a fan of capacitive fingerprint scanners and prefer them over the in-display sensors. The scanner works well and is fast.

Moving on to the battery, the Moto G34 5G has a big battery. It gets a 5,000mAh unit that supports up to 18W fast charging. However, the box contains a 20W charging adapter.Moto g34 5g review software moto-g34-review-software

The phone runs Android 14-based MyUX out of the box. The user interface is very much like stock Android, but there are plenty of additional features baked in. You get software features such as a Game mode, a Sidebar to quickly access apps in Windows mode, Split-screen multitasking, and Family Space. There's also a Moto Unplugged mode that lets you unwind for a set period of time. I also liked the Moto Gestures available on the phone that support easy gestures to perform tasks such as turning on the flashlight, launching the camera app, silencing calls, and more. Motorola has promised 1 year of OS updates and 3 years of security updates. This is usually the norm in this price segment, so I wasn't very surprised.

However, I was surprised by the bloatware and pre-installed apps on the Moto G34 5G. There are three folders that you'll find on the phone, namely GamesHub, Entertainment, and Shopping. While these folders don't have any apps installed, if you tap on them, you are bombarded with ads, and you can install the games. All of these folders are by Swish Apps. However, you can uninstall the Entertainment, Shopping, and GamesHub folders.

Moto G34 Review: Performance

Motorola claims that the Moto G34 5G is the fastest phone in the 5G segment, but it mentions in the footnotes that this claim holds true among other Motorola phones in the same price range. And that may be true. The phone is equipped with an octa-core 6nm Snapdragon 695 SoC that's a good mid-range chipset.

We ran Geekbench 6 and got a single-core CPU score of 912 and a multi-core score of 2050. It scored 1411 points on the GPU benchmark. On AnTuTu, the phone managed a score of 3,50,965, which is decent. I was able to perform basic tasks on the phone without any lag, and I can say that the phone was good for daily use. I also managed to play BGMI on the phone but with graphics limited to HD only. Still, you can totally use this phone for some light BGMI gaming. The phone also doesn't hit up as much as I expected it to, but that's probably because demanding games don't run on their highest settings.Moto g34 5g review gaming moto-g34-review-gaming

Now, let's look at the phone's display. The Moto G34 5G comes with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display that offers HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling rate. It gets a hole-punch cutout for the front camera and Panda glass protection. The panel delivers 580 nits brightness and is good enough to enjoy watching videos, playing games, and so on when indoors, but visibility outdoors isn't great. The phone offers a Natural or Saturated colour mode, and you can choose to set the screen at 120Hz, 60Hz, or auto. Overall, the display is good enough for the price.

The phone offers a dual stereo speaker setup, with one speaker at the bottom and the second one being the ear speaker at the top. While the phone offers Dolby Atmos support and the audio from the speakers is clear, it lacks bass. The phone gets loud enough for indoor use, but you'll need to use headphones when outside. Talking about headphones, the Moto G34 5G comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack.Moto g34 5g review hardware moto-g34-review-hardware

In terms of overall performance, the Moto G34 5G did quite well with what it comes packed with. The software, although not as stock as it used to be, is without lag and the impressive 120Hz refresh rate certainly helps with making things appear smoother than they are. The scrolling in apps is smooth, but only if you aren't running multiple apps or multitasking. When things get heavy, the phone does start to lag with some choppiness, even when scrolling.

Where it doesn't lag is in the battery department. The Moto G34 5G comes with a 5,000mAh battery that can easily last over a day with minimum to moderate usage. Keep the display in 60Hz mode, and you can extend the battery further. I consistently managed to get over a day's usage with around 6-7 hours of screen time. My day usually included about 30 mins of gaming, watching a couple of YouTube videos, using the camera for photos, messaging, calling, and other regular tasks. The phone supports 18W charging speeds, and with the included charger, it took about 40 mins to charge from 0 to 50 percent and 2 hours to hit 100 percent. Now, that's pretty slow compared to today's standards.

Moto G34 Review: Cameras

Affordable smartphones also have decent cameras these days, and that's the case with the Moto G34 5G, or so I thought. The phone comes with a 50-megapixel primary rear camera and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the front, there's a 16-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls.Moto g34 5g review cameras moto-g34-review-cameras

The camera app is easy to use and has all the camera modes laid out right in front. The main Photo mode has 1x and a Macro mode. You get 8x digital zoom in the Photo mode and can choose between three different aspect ratios. Motorola has also included various filters that you can try right in the Photo mode. There's also a video mode, Slow Motion, Portrait, and a Pro mode. Meanwhile, Night Vision, Dual Capture, Timelapse, and Panorama are hidden away in More.

Now, let's talk about the image quality from the main 50-megapixel rear camera. In daylight, the photos taken with the main camera are, at best, decent. While you get details, the colours are saturated, and the HDR is not very good. Image quality was clearly not a priority for Motorola, and I don't blame them. The phone costs around Rs. 10,000, and this is what you can expect. The Macro camera is mostly a bust and I was never able to get any good close-up photos with the camera. And as the sun goes down, so does the image quality. Even with Night Vision mode, the pictures weren't sharp and had plenty of noise. If you're in a completely lit street, then maybe the camera can get some details with the Night Vision mode.

Top to bottom: Main camera, Macro, Night Vision, and Lowlight

However, you can get some good photos if you try out the Pro mode, but an average consumer isn't going to spend time trying to get a good shot. Straight out of the pocket, the main camera will only give you good results when used in daylight. The selfie camera is also okay at best. You can play around with features such as Dual capture, which takes photos and videos using both front and rear cameras.

Coming to video performance from the main rear camera, you get 1080p video capture at 30fps, and there is some noise and artefacts even in daylight. There is stabilisation, but it's only electronic. The video quality also falls apart at night. The Moto G34 5G also lets you shoot videos using the Macro camera, and to my surprise, it managed to take better close-up videos than photos.

Moto G34 Review: Verdict

The Moto G34 5G will be competing with similarly priced phones from Xiaomi, Realme, and Poco. However, not a lot of phones in the price segment offer 5G connectivity, 120Hz refresh rate, and a Vegan leather finish on the rear panel.

If you're looking to buy an affordable 5G smartphone and don't really care about camera performance, then the Moto G34 5G is an excellent choice. You also get a good display, dual speakers, pretty good battery life, and you can play games such as BGMI in low settings. However, if you need a good camera setup, then you're going to have to spend some more money.

From Animal, Sam Bahadur to Griselda: Here Are the Top OTT Releases of This Week to Binge-Watch This Weekend

The Long Weekend is here, and so are our weekly recommendations for the top OTT releases of the week. One of the most talked about films of 2023, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer, is making its OTT debut on Netflix this Republic Day. Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur – released on the same day as Animal – will also have its digital premiere on Zee5 on the same day. For those with entrepreneurial interests, SonyLiv's Shark Tank is back with its third season. Raveen Tandon's revenge drama Karmma Calling will also be released on January 26 on Disney+ Hotstar. While Prabhas starrer Salaar is topping Netflix Top 10 in India this week, Kevin Hart's Lift continues to top the charts globally.

If you were a fan of Narcos, you could give Griselda, the latest project from the same creators, a try. Modern Family's Sofía Vergara will be seen playing the Colombian drug lord in this mini-series.

Prime Video is also having a big release for the week in the form of Expats. Based on the complex tapestry of Hong Kong, it tells the story of four women whose lives become entangled after an encounter sets off a chain of life-altering events.

However, if you are looking for laughs, we recommend Kevin James' stand-up special Irregardless. Some other Netflix releases which you could consider are Masters of the Universe: Revolution, Badland Hunters, and The Greatest Night in Pop.

Apple TV also has a big release in the form of Masters of the Air. It follows the 100th Bomb Group, a B-17 Flying Fortress unit in the Eighth Air Force during World War II – better known as Bloody Hundredth”. Find below the top six releases of the week!

Animal

When: January, 26

Where: Netflix

Animal enjoyed one of the biggest box office collections last year and is set to make its Netflix premiere on Republic Day. It tells the story of Ranvijay, a misogynistic man who identifies himself as an “alpha male” and develops an unhealthy obsession of sorts with his emotionally unavailable father (Anil Kapoor) — a poor chap who was busy making fortunes for his family. The film is loaded with violence, intrusive behaviour, and sexism.

Sam Bahadur

When: January, 26

Where: Zee5

The Vicky Kaushal starrer is a perfect choice if you are looking for a patriotic pick for a Republic Day binge-watch. It tells the real-life story of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, one of India's most celebrated military leaders. Vicky's character is resolute and doesn't shy away from speaking his mind in front of anyone. The film comes from Meghna Gulzar, who directed Talvar (2015) and Raazi (2019) earlier.

Karmma Calling

When: January, 26

Where: Disney+ Hotstar

Raveena Tandon, who was last seen in Netflix's Aranyak, will be seen playing the wife of a billionaire and a glamorous queen of the 1990s who has just one thing in mind – revenge. The show is an adaptation of the popular American series, Revenge. Ruchi Narain, who helmed Netflix's Guilty, directs.

Shark Tank India Season 3

When: Now Streaming

Where: SonyLiv

Sony Liv's Shark Tank has a total of 12 judges or “sharks” this season, who would listen to the contestants trying to pitch in their products. These sharks include Aman Gupta (BoAT), Anupam Mittal (Shaadi.com), Vineeta Singh (Sugar Cosmetics), Namita Thapar (Emcure Pharmaceuticals), Deepinder Goyal (Zomato), Ritesh Agarwal (OYO Rooms), Radhika Gupta (Edelweiss Mutual Fund), Amit Jain (CarDekho), Peyush Bansal (Lenskart) Azhar Iqubal (Inshorts), Ronnie Screwvala (UpGrad), and Varun Dua (ACKO). While the first two seasons were quite a hit among the viewers, the third season is also expected to make a mark.

Griselda

When: Streaming

Where: Netflix

The creators of Narcos are back with an intense story of crime with this biological drama. Sophia Vergara – who also serves as the executive producer for the show - essays the role of Griselda Blanco, the Columbian drug lord who created one of the most powerful cartels of all time. It has been dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, French, German, Czech, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, and Polish, among others.

Fortnite Will Return to iOS in Europe as Apple Plans to Allow Third-Party App Stores on iPhone

Fortnite will be making a return to iOS in Europe, Epic Games announced on January 25. The development occurred as Apple is now forced to open iOS to sideloaded apps and third-party app stores to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and is chasing a deadline of March 7. Reportedly, Apple is already working on making changes to its App Store and will likely make a separate version available in Europe. Epic Games could be one of the many app stores that become available in the region, and iPhone users may finally get to play Fortnite after waiting for four years.

In a post, the official handle of Epic Games Store revealed that Fortnite will make a comeback to iOS in Europe this year. It also added that the popular battle royale game will be added via the Epic Games Store for iOS. The post did not mention a launch date.

In a separate post, the company said, “Stay tuned for details as we figure out the regulatory timeline. We'll continue to argue to the courts and regulators that Apple is breaking the law.”

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney also spoke against how Apple implements the DMA regulations, calling it a “malicious compliance.” In a long post, he said the Cupertino-based tech giant is forcing third-party app stores to accept “junk fees on downloads and new Apple taxes on payments they don't process.”

Separately, he also said that a monopoly should not be allowed to decide what companies are allowed to compete with it after another user shared a list of agreements Apple sought from third-party app stores before allowing them on iOS.

Fortnite was removed from the App Store in 2020 after the iPhone maker banned Epic for encouraging users to make third-party in-app payments. Subsequently, Epic Games filed an antitrust lawsuit against Apple. Just last week, the US Supreme Court denied the request to hear the dispute, resulting in a win for the tech giant.

The concern for Epic Games comes from its previous issues with the company, and with Apple still holding oversight into third-party apps, the possibility of the Fortnite-maker getting banned again still exists.

iPhone 16 Pro Max to Feature Larger, Improved Primary Camera Sensor, Tipster Claims

iPhone 16 Pro Max — Apple's purported successor to the iPhone 15 Pro Max that was launched last year — could arrive with more powerful camera capabilities in the coming months, according to details shared by a tipster. The company's top-of-the-line iPhone model is said to be equipped with an improved 48-megapixel primary camera sensor that is larger than the one used on the current (iPhone 15 Pro Max) and previous generation (iPhone 14 Pro Max) models, offering more advanced camera capabilities.

Tipster Digital Chat Station leaked details of the iPhone 16 Pro Max camera via a Weibo post (in Chinese) on Wednesday. The iPhone 16 Pro Max will be equipped with a 48-megapixel Sony IMX903 camera sensor with a customised design. It will feature a 14-bit analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) and a digital gain control (DGC) for improved camera performance, according to the tipster.

Apple equipped the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max models with a 1/1.28-inch primary camera sensor, but this year's top-of-the-line model could sport a new, larger 1/1.14-inch sensor. This means that the company's purported flagship iPhone model for 2024 could capture better images in low light scenarios, while offering better dynamic range and bokeh capabilities.

Earlier this month, TF Securities International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the iPhone 16 Pro models would be equipped with an upgraded ultra-wide-angle camera, while the tetraprism telephoto camera setup from the iPhone 15 Pro Max will make its way to the smaller iPhone 16 Pro model later this year.

Based on these claims, it appears that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will both feature two upgraded cameras. Meanwhile, Apple's 2025 models — expected to debut as the iPhone 17 series — will be equipped with an upgraded selfie camera, from a 12-megapixel camera with a 5P lens to a 24-megapixel camera with a 6P lens, according to Kuo.

Crypto Price Today: Bitcoin Price Stays Unchanged Despite Small Gain, Profits Return to Crypto Chart

Bitcoin on Thursday, January 25 recorded a miniscule gain of 0.50 percent. Despite this development, Bitcoin did not see a big change in its price. At the time of writing, the value of BTC stood at $39,921 (roughly Rs. 33 lakh). The asset did grow in value by $271 (roughly Rs. 22,527) in the last 24 hours. While this might indicate that bulls are not willing to step in at this price point, it might also be the case that taking the Bitcoin's price further down will not be easy for the bears as well, the CoinSwitch markets desk told Gadgets360.

Solana, Ripple, Cardano, Avalanche, Tron, and Polkadot -- all recorded small gains alongside Bitcoin on Thursday.

They were also joined by Shiba Inu, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Leo, Cosmos, Uniswap, Stellar, Monero, Near Protocol, and Cronos.

“Notably, Solana's SOL and Avalanche's AVAX surpassed expectations, registering gains of about 8.5 percent and 11.5 percent, respectively, spearheading the broader market's upward trajectory,” Rajagopal Menon, Vice President, WazirX told Gadgets360.

Ether failed to join Bitcoin on the profit-making side of the crypto price chart. The SEC managed to delay the approval of BlackRock's spot Ethereum ETF, for now, which has emerged as a contributing factor to the somewhat bearish sentiment hovering over ETH at the moment.

Tether, Binance Coin, USD Coin, Chainlink, and Bitcoin SV joined Ether on the loss-making side of the crypto price chart.

The overall valuation of the crypto market cap rose by 0.38 percent in the last 24 hours. Its valuation presently stands at $1.55 trillion (roughly Rs. 1,28,85,537 crore) as per CoinMarketCap.

“The overall crypto market cap jumped to the $1.55 trillion mark with BTC showing a marginal increase in its value from the previous day. Altcoins are showing a strong positive trajectory but it's not enough to lift the market sentiment. The US Fed should start cutting the interest rates soon to boost market liquidity and spark economic activity across sectors,” Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin told Gadgets360.
